A) INTRODUCTION

This manual will serve as a guide for you to better manage your telephone system. In addition, it contains a definitive statement of recommended management policy on telecommunications.

Specifically, the contents of this manual will provide an organized basis for managing the telephone system repair function and the "moves/adds/changes" function. The specific purposes and scope include:

• Reduce the cost of moves/adds/changes (MAC) and decrease the implementation time.

• Reduce maintenance costs and decrease downtime due to suspected malfunctioning equipment and support services.

• This program will lessen the dependence and vulnerability to local telephone support vendors.

• This program will require assignment of one person as a "Telephone Coordinator" (and a back-up person). Typically this will not be a new or full-time position, but rather an additional duty assigned among others to an existing staff person.
