FIRST AID STATION PROGRAM

We have established a “First Aid Station” program, wherein our Galveston County Branch office enters into inexpensive contracts with event sponsors to provide basic first aid at events. Red Cross trained volunteers at the “Emergency Responder” and CPR/FA levels provide this service on-site. Typically, these station workers are employed in their regular job as an EMT or nurse or other health care provider.

This is not an EMS level of medical service, but we work closely with the EMS agency in the geographic jurisdiction of the event. Events typically include parades, fairs, conventions, meetings, etc where there are larger gatherings of people.

We are looking for volunteers who have an interest in being members in this program. An application process is required, with submission of Red Cross CPR/FA and nursing or EMS credentials, and a background check. Qualified and accepted team members will then become part of our cadre of available members for these events.

We are also looking for members who would like to participate in the leadership of this program. Each event needs a qualified team leader, and our overall FAS program management needs leaders.
